California Is 1 of 27 States That Will Raise The Minimum Wage In 2023

In 2023 Millions of Americans will be getting a raise in the new year, thanks to minimum wage hikes in many states. A total of 27 states are set to increase the minimum wage next year, with most taking effect on Jan. 1st. 11 states will raise the minimum wage by more than $1: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illlinois, Maine, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia. The highest minimum wage among U.S. states will be in California, at $15.50. But Washington D.C. has an even higher minimum wage at $16.10 - and it's scheduled to go up again in July. The federal minimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25, a rate that hasn’t changed since 2009.
