Black Girls Film Camp Is Helping Aspire Young Filmmakers

Black Girls Film Camp is aspiring young Black girls with a one-of-a-kind retreat for future filmmakers.

The experience is a virtual 12-week camp where high school Black girls across the U.S are able to pitch story ideas. The nonprofit will select 10 ideas to bring to life in a short film produced by the program and over the next year those films will be showcased at national film festivals.

According to ABC 7, over 200 Black girls across the country applied for the 2022 camp. Each of those girls will be assigned a creative coach to help them through the production process and will also get to work with professionals and mentors at USC.
