San Gabriel Man Finally Gets High School Diploma 60 Years Later

Better late than never! 78-year-old Ted Sams from San Gabriel finally received his high school diploma after 60 years.

San Gabriel High School invited Sams to walk across the stage with the Class of 2022 at their ceremony at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena this past Friday. Sams was so excited to walk across that stage to finally get his diploma in a full cap and gown.

"They wouldn't give me my diploma because I owed $4.80 for a book and so I just walked away and said forget it," explained Sams as to why he wasn't able to graduate back in 1962. Sams also said that he got in trouble and was suspended five days before the end of the school year.

And get this, the school had Sams' original diploma locked away in a filing cabinet! Sams is so excited to finally have his diploma after he complained for years to his kids about why he wasn't able to graduate. He plans to hang up his diploma on his wall at home. Love that for Ted Sams! Click here for more.
