Organizers Say Super Bowl LVI Will Be Staying at SoFi Stadium

Although COVID-19 is surging in Los Angeles due to the omicron variant, preparations for the Super Bowl are still in place for the event to happen next month.

According to KTLA 5, both the NFL officials and local organizers say that the game will not be leaving the L.A. area. A media event was held at SoFi Stadium Thursday, confirming that the NFL has no plans to move Super Bowl LVI to Texas even though there were concerns about the rise of COVID-19 and the health precautions California has placed.

Katie Keenan, the NFL's senior director of event operations said that they are working with the L.A. County Health Department to make sure all events are being organized safely.

Earlier this month, the NFL looked into using the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium as a backup site for the Super Bowl in case the COVID rules in California would prevent the event from happening. Shortly the NFL confirmed that they always find backup sites for the Super Bowl every year as a precautionary.

The Ram's chief operating officer, Kevin Demoff, said that SoFi has been enforcing extensive COVID safety protocols for each game to keep a safe environment. The stadium has a unique indoor-outdoor design which allows for air flow to pass throughout the stadium.
