There have been 13 October 3rds since Mean Girls made its debut on the big screen in 2004. In honor of Mean Girls' Day, here are some fun facts about the film are that are literally 'so fetch.'
1. Mean Girls for Las Vegas. In the wake of the deadliest shooting in United States history, Aaron Samuels, Damien, Gretchen Weiners, and Karen Smith are asking all Mean Girls fans to donate three dollars to the Mean Girls for Las Vegas GoFundMe page. The goal is to raise $300,000 to aid the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.
2. Lindsey Lohan was originally cast as Regina George. Lohen had previously worked with director Mark Waters in the remake of Freaky Friday, and Waters believed she had what it took to be the antagonist of film, Regina George. However, Freaky Friday did incredibly well in the box office and Paramount Studios suggested Lohen be cast as the lead not the villain. In an interview with Vulture magazine, Waters says Lohen was okay with the role change because at least she'd get to have more lines.
3. Amy Poehler coached Kevin G's rap performance. While Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for the film, the rap scene with Mathlete Kevin Gnappor, was all Amy. Director Mark Waters says, "Amy definitely coached him on how to do the rap, and she actually gave him some of the moves and choreography for it."
4. The little chihuahua was chewing on a cocktail wiener and NOT Mrs. George's breast. When Cady first meets Regina George's 'cool mom,' she's holding a chihuahua that's biting Mrs. George's breast. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rachel McAdams, who plays Regina George, says, "They, like, pinned a piece of a cocktail wiener into her bra. It was very effective. She was such a pro through it. She’s trying to do her lines and being so professional, and this dog is chomping on her fake boob."
5. Jonathan Bennett made Lindsey Lohen blush on cue. Aaron Samuels, played by Jonathan Bennett, was Cady Heron's love interest in the film, and it was also Bennett's first film. Bennett told Entertainment Weekly, "It’s my first experience working with someone, and then to have to play the love interest of this person who is so dynamic and such a presence was very, very intimidating. I was scared sh–less the first few days."
6. GLEN COCO IS A REAL PERSON. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tina Fey revealed that she uses real names while writing and Glen Coco is actually her, "older brother’s good friend. He’s a film editor in Los Angeles, and I imagine it’s a pain in the butt for him."
