Some Things You Didn't Know About La La Land

Face it, we've almost *all* seen La La Land.

In my opinion, it's a masterpiece!

But here are some things you probably didn't know about the film!

Thanks to the LA Times, we now have some secrets of what went on behind the scenes and at the various locations.

Like how hard it was to hit the final mark on "Another Day Of Sun"

Choreographer Mandy Moore (no, not the This Is Us Mandy Moore) said: I basically threatened those dancers with their lives because that was at the end of a really, really difficult shot. They all knew that no matter what, they had to get in those cars." She even said one dancer's car locked and he threw himself through the window so he wouldn't be standing there at the end! As she said, "I will forever thank that kid for that." I mean... they shut down freeways in the middle of an August heat wave to be able to do this scene, it was serious business.

Songs were prepared for the original pitch of the movie... and ended up in the final cut!

Damien Chazelle worked with the producers and composer Justin Hurwitz had "A Lovely Night" - which was, at the time called "Duet On A Hill" - and the entire planetarium sequence finished before pitching the film. They wanted the "important pieces of the score" to be completed for people to understand the film.

Mia's apartment was made up of 2 different apartments

And they both had some famous history! The exterior of her place was the Rose Court Apartments in Long Beach, which are a restored set of buildings that had never been used in a movie before. The interior is a historic building from the 1930s in the Miracle Mile neighborhood. The interior apartment had famous tenants over the years - both Ronald Reagan and Clark Gable.

The most difficult scene to shoot was actually the last waltz

While the timing on "Another Day Of Sun" was absolutely crucial, Emma and Ryan had to do over 40 takes for the last waltz scene. Choreographer Mandy Moore recalls Ryan saying, "I'm lost in these stars. I don't even know where my front is." Which, is fair, being that they were spinning around in stars and all. Not an easy thing to do!!

One of my personal favorite things about this movie is spotting all of the places in LA that we see on the regular. It's exciting, like we're part of the movie!

If you haven't seen this one, you've just GOT to!
